How long does it take to get my electricity connected?
Your electricity connection will start on the date you choose when signing up.
If you need power connected today, call us on 1800 950 613 (before 2:30 pm) and we’ll arrange a speedy connection.
Make sure all switches are turned off to avoid a rejected connection or extra charges.
How long does it take to get my gas connected?
Usually, gas is already connected and will work on the day you choose when signing up. If a connection visit is needed, we’ll arrange it with your Distributor and keep you updated every step of the way.
What time will my power be connected?
Your power is usually connected between 7:00 am and midnight. We’ll send you a text message once it’s on, so you know exactly when it’s ready.
I’m already with Tango – how do I move my account to my new place?
No worries! Just log in to the My Tango app or online portal and schedule your move. Head to ‘Service’ → ‘Disconnection’ to let us know when you’re leaving. Give at least 4 business days’ notice so we can disconnect on time.
Once that’s done, sign up again with your new address so we can get your energy connected at your new place.

Do I need to contact my old energy provider?
Nope! We’ll handle the switch for you and let you know once your energy supply has been transferred.
Is there a connection fee?
Sometimes your local Distributor charges a fee to connect or disconnect energy – it depends on your location. If a fee applies, it’ll appear on your first Tango Energy bill.
Other fees that may apply include:
- After-hours connections
- Disconnecting power or requesting a final read when moving out
- Special meter reads

Do I need to be home when the power is connected?
Usually, no. Your power can be connected without you at home. The only time you might need to be there is if the Distributor needs access to your meter – for example, if it’s behind a locked gate or there are pets nearby. If that’s the case, we’ll keep you updated via text.
Can I have power on at both my old and new place while I move?
Yes, you can! We can arrange for your current home connected until you’re all done there and set up power at your new place too. Call us on 1800 010 648 to arrange this service.
