Solar panels provide eligible customers who are connected to the grid with the ability to earn solar feed-in credits at the rates as set out in their energy plan. These rates may vary from time-to-time. Total electricity costs will vary depending on a customer’s usage and applicable electricity rates.
How solar works

Are solar panels suitable for my home?
Tango's team of solar advisers can remotely assess if solar panels are suitable for your property.
Using satellite imagery, we can:
- Assess your roof size and direction
- Check for obstructions that may cast shadows
- Calculate possible savings and the expected payback period on your investment.
We can then recommend the best size of solar system for you and arrange a competitive quote on a quality installation from Tango’s preferred third-party retailer.

Installing Solar

How do I figure out what size solar system I need?
1. First, estimate your daily electricity usage
Check your bill to see your daily usage. If you have peak and off-peak consumption, add them together and divide by the number of days shown on the bill.
2. Then, we can calculate how many solar panels you need
Most panels generate 300W. A Tango solar adviser will calculate how many panels you can fit on your roof and how many you need based on your consumption and the amount of sunshine your roof gets on different days throughout the year.
How much will I save using solar power?
Solar power is a long-term investment for homeowners looking to reduce electricity costs. In order to determine whether it is financially viable, you'll need to determine the installation costs, estimated payback and whether you are eligible for any government rebates.
Tango Energy’s trusted third-party retailer will help you estimate monthly savings on your energy bill and your payback period. They will also guide you through the application process for the government rebate. There are only limited rebates available, so getting some help with this is worthwhile!
What is the current Feed-In Tariff (FiT)?
Any excess solar electricity you don’t use is fed back into the grid in return for a feed-in-tariff (FiT), which appears as a credit on your energy bill.
Tango Energy offers competitive feed-in tariff rates, along with highly competitive energy rates.
Ask a Tango solar adviser about our FiT rates today on 1800 595 434.
Would I benefit from a storage battery?
You can use a solar battery to store your excess electricity for use when the sun isn’t shining -
this is a personal choice and is not mandatory -
we can help you assess if this would be worthwhile.
