At Tango Energy, it’s important to us that both eligible concession card holders and life support customers have access to current information.
Depending on your individual circumstances and which State you live in, you may be entitled to a concession on your electricity account. For more detailed information on the types of concessions available, your eligibility and applying for concessions, please contact us or visit the related State government websites that contain more information on these concessions.
If you have a life support machine at your premises, it’s important that you let us know as soon as possible. This important information is used to register you as a life support customer with us and your electricity distributor. Both Tango and your distributor can provide you with practical advice when dealing with power failures and interruptions to your electricity supply.
Life support customers may also be eligible for a life support concession. We encourage you to complete the life support concession form to ensure that we can apply the correct concession to your account. You may need to speak with your medical practitioner to ensure that your life support equipment meets the criteria under the life support framework

The Victorian Government offers a variety of concessions and benefits to assist low-income Victorians with energy bills.
If you have a relevant concession card, you may be eligible for a concession on your account with Tango. Valid concession cards may include:
• Pensioner Concession Cards issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs
• Health Care Cards issued by Centrelink
• Department of Veterans Affairs Gold Repatriation Health Cards

Annual Electricity Concession
The Annual Electricity Concession reduces your bill by 17.5% for both electricity usage and supply charges. This concession is applied to your bills throughout the year. This concession is calculated after retailer discounts and solar credits have been deducted.
Controlled Load Concession
The Controlled Load Electricity Concession reduces your bill by 13% for controlled load electricity usage charges. This concession is applied to your bills throughout the year.
Controlled load charges apply to separately metered electric hot water or slab heating, which is measured via a dual element electricity or dual element smart meter. This concession is only available to eligible customers with a dual element meter.
Electricity Transfer Fee Waiver
Eligible concession card holders can have their electricity service connected for free when moving into a new house. The concession will be automatically
Excess Electricity Concession
If your mains electricity usage and service costs are above $2,820 for the year, you may be eligible for the excess electricity concession. Please note this amount is reviewed each year.
This concession provides a reduction of 17.5 per cent of electricity usage and service costs. The concession is calculated after retailer discounts and solar credits have been deducted
Life Support Concession
The Life Support Concession assists customers who require the use of specific life support machines in their home
The electricity discount is the cost of 1,880 kilowatt hours (470 kilowatt hours per quarter) of electricity each year, calculated using the general domestic tariff of your retailer.
Approved machines are those that use at least 1,880 kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Machines already approved are:
- Intermittent peritoneal dialysis machines (electricity)
- Oxygen concentrators (electricity)
- Haemodialysis machines (electricity and water).
Applications for other machines must be approved by the department.
Most continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) machines do not meet the 1,880 kilowatt hour threshold.
Medical Cooling Concession
The Medical Cooling Concession reduces your electricity bills during the summer period by 17.5%. This concession is paid to eligible cardholders in addition to the Annual Electricity Concession. The summer period dates are 1 November to 30 April (inclusive) each year.
Examples of qualifying medical conditions include:
• Multiple sclerosis
• Parkinson’s disease
• Post-polio syndrome/poliomyelitis
• Motor neuron disease
Service to Property Charge Concession
If your electricity usage is low, you may be eligible for the Service to Property Charge Concession. In instances where the service to property charge is higher than charges for the electricity consumed at the property, the concession amount will be the difference between the two.
South Australian Concessions
Eligible South Australians on either a low or fixed income can apply for help with the cost of their electricity bills.
To be eligible for a concession, your name must appear on your electricity bill and the address you are claiming the concession for must be your primary residence.

Energy bill concessions
To help with the cost of energy bills, a state government concession is available to eligible South Australians on low or fixed incomes. The energy concession covers both electricity and gas payments (including LPG bottled gas) for up to $223.01 per year.
Emergency Electricity Payment Scheme (EEPS)
If you are experiencing difficulty with paying your electricity bills, and you are eligible for a concession, you may be eligible for a relief payment through the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion’s Emergency Electricity Payment Scheme. To apply, you will need to visit a financial counselor who will make an assessment of your circumstances before an application can be made. If you need assistance locating a financial counselor near you, you can visit the MoneySmart website for more information.
Medical heating and cooling concession
This energy concession assists South Australians on a fixed or low income who have a clinically verified medical condition which requires the frequent use of heating or cooling in the home to prevent the severe worsening of their condition. It is available to eligible applicants in addition to the current energy concession
